My first foray into the worlds crafted by Le Guin, and what a powerful and thought-provoking one it has been. While it is a scathing critique of predatory capitalism, it also argues that even the best ideas in socialism/communism can turn sour when neglecting that people can serve society in nuanced and myriad ways without being completely bound to follow only one narrow path. It also speaks of the importance of dialogue, of bridging the gap not between irreconcilable systems, but people and ideas. Masterfully written and timeless.
